LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An Amazon truck driver who rescued a 7-year-old boy lost on a Las Vegas neighborhood street is expected to receive recognition for his actions.

Kris Robinson, a Clark County School District parent, told NewsNation affiliate KLAS that her son, Kameron, was dropped off incorrectly by a school bus driver following the first day of school. School district police and staff worked with the boy’s family to locate him, according to a school district statement.

Kameron, who was wandering for nearly an hour, sat down on a curb in the triple-degree heat until Lavell Moore, an Amazon truck driver, noticed him.

Moore told KLAS he spotted Kameron sitting on the side of the road with his backpack and said he thought of his children when he pulled over—noticing something was wrong.

“Hey, little man,” Moore said. “Are you okay?”

Kameron explained to Moore he was lost and thankfully remembered his mother’s phone number which he called from the Amazon truck driver’s phone.

Following the incident, an Amazon spokesperson confirmed that Moore is employed by their company and acknowledged the incident, adding that he would be recognized for his actions during a celebration with his team.

Robinson said she was thankful Moore spotted Kameron and intervened.

“I cannot express how deeply grateful I am that he noticed and recognized something was wrong and pulled over to stop,” she said.

Following the incident, Robinson spoke with school district officials but said she was still seeking answers about how her son was misplaced.

“It’s pretty clear I am not going to get a clear understanding of what happened that day my son was lost,” she said. “I would like to know if [CCSD] have any intention of revising the procedure in a way that is effective for the children.”

The school district wrote in a statement to KLAS they have addressed the problems regarding the incident but did not provide details about what exactly has changed.
