LINCOLN, Ark. – A woman who lives in the small town of Lincoln hopes her words have a big effect on many people.

Allison Bond was born with mild cerebral palsy and a developmental disability. The 27-year-old said it caused her to have difficulty writing, however, she was still able to create the Kindness Through Letters Project in 2020.

“I had to do something so I decided to encourage people and help them with their struggles,” Bond said.

Her words of hope and encouragement are meant to help others struggling or dealing with mental health. She said by constantly writing, her handwriting got better and so far she said she has written thousands of letters to strangers in  and out of state.

“Helping them with their mental health and me struggling with anxiety, it’s helped me too,” Bond said.

Bond said her letters have connected her to others with disabilities, veterans and more. Many people are writing her back telling her how the letter has impacted them.

“I made an impact on these people and I didn’t think I would but I did,” Bond said. “That makes me smile from ear to ear.”

Bond said she plans to continue writing as many letters as possible to help people and hopes she can extend some of those letters internationally.
