(NewsNation) — In 2022, a Burger King cook in Nevada completed 27 years of work without missing a day. He made headlines after the company rewarded him for his loyalty with just a goody bag.
Kevin Ford posted a video of the bag, which contained a few items like a movie ticket, a Starbucks cup and a few pens.
“I was grateful to get anything. The day before that they gave me a chocolate cake and I was happy with the chocolate cake,” Ford told NewsNation in 2023. “A lot of people that work with me for 30 years, didn’t get anything, so I was happy.”
However, Ford’s video went viral and led his daughter to start a GoFundMe page, which raised more than $450,000 to recognize Ford’s dedication.
Ford used the funds to purchase his first home and is launching a food truck business with his family.
Now, he continues to work at Burger King while learning the ins and outs of running a business. Ford plans to use the business profits to cover his bills and eventually leave his job at Burger King.
“I’m learning each step, and I’m just trying to be the best businessman I can be,” Ford said Tuesday on “Morning in America.”
Ford said he wouldn’t be where he is today if it wasn’t for the support from his daughter, Serena.
“Serena, I love you with all my heart. You’re everything to me,” Ford said. “You’re everything any father could ever expect a daughter to be or grow into. I’m proud of you. I love you.”
