MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) – A woman in hospice care was granted her dying wish Wednesday to see Elvis Presley’s home.

Tonya Guy, 68, and her daughter, Elizabeth Blackwell, flew from Augusta, Georgia, to visit Graceland. Guy is a lifelong fan of the King of Rock and Roll, and said the trip was a dream come true.

“I just loved his music and the way he dances and plays his music and his heart,” said Guy. “I’m going through the house every bit as much as I can see.”

Guy was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020. Her daughter said she went into remission, but in 2023, the cancer returned and spread to her brain.

Blackwell is grateful to the Twilight Wish Foundation and Crescent Hospice for making the trip possible. She said it was a gift for both of them.

“It’s really bittersweet and special for us because we get to spend time together, just the two of us, and try to make some lasting memories,” said Blackwell

Blackwell said her mother has always loved Elvis and was excited to walk through the house where he once lived.

“I think she loved the older Elvis when he had a little bit longer hair and the pork chops,” Blackwell said. “She enjoyed it very much. All of it.”

Blackwell said she and her mother have also been feeling the love while in Memphis.

“Someone at Graceland came up and prayed for her and gave us hugs,” she said.

Twilight Wish Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that grants the wishes of senior citizens. Since 2003, Twilight Wish has granted the wishes of nearly 6,000 seniors. More information, including how volunteers can help, can be found at the organization’s website.
