AUBURN, Mass. (WWLP) – A K-9 from the Auburn Police Department was able to track down a missing child more than two miles away from where they were last seen.

According to Auburn Police, on Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. officers received a report of a missing 12-year-old child that left their home around 8:30 p.m. and didn’t return. The child was last seen in the Pakachoag Hill area of Auburn.

Temperatures were below freezing so numerous police officers and State Troopers were involved in trying to locate the child, including Officer Ljunggren and his K-9 Biza. K-9 Biza found a scent of the child and tracked it for more than two miles to an area that showed evidence of the child recently visiting the area.

Police gathered in the area and were able to locate the child a short time later. The child was found safe and has been reunited with their family.
