Pres. Trump will resume regular coronavirus briefings Tuesday
WASHINGTON (News Nation) — President Donald Trump will resume regular coronavirus briefings again Tuesday with a focus on vaccines and therapeutics.
“I think it’s a great way to get information out to the public,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Monday. “We’re going to give you a lot of briefings in the next week and over the next few weeks.”

The once-daily briefings at the White House became less frequent in late April after the president came under fire for suggesting that injecting disinfectant could possibly kill coronavirus during the April 23 briefing.
Briefings from the coronavirus task force have been sporadic since April, and have not featured Trump prominently.
Also Monday, the president mentioned the “big flare-up in Florida, Texas, a couple of other places” in response to a question from the media seeking clarification about bringing back the coronavirus briefings, explaining, “I think what we’re going to do is I’ll get involved and we’ll start doing briefings, whether it’s this afternoon or tomorrow — probably tomorrow.”
White House aides said the format, venue and frequency of the president’s forthcoming appearances haven’t been finalized. And it wasn’t clear whether he would field questions or share the stage with others, including Vice President Mike Pence and Drs. Deborah Birx or Anthony Fauci.
Trump said he’ll likely hold the briefings at 5 p.m. EDT and that press secretary Kayleigh McEnany will continue her daily press briefings at 11 a.m. EDT.
