DENVER (KDVR) — Weight loss has been made easier these days. All you need is a prescription for an injection known as Ozempic.

It seems like the easy way to get fit fast, but there is a warning from plastic surgeons that many people may not have considered: sagging skin.

Despite some controversy around the weight loss drug, many Americans have opted to use it.
Fat is dissipating in patients at record speeds.

Dr. Eric Humble, a world-renowned plastic surgeon, is seeing the effects of Ozempic on a daily basis.

“Nowadays, you don’t have those people coming from post-surgical changes, you have those people coming in off medications. So, they are losing 30 to 40 pounds, and they are not liking certain body parts,” said Humble.

Humble said losing that much weight that fast can lead to issues. He has seen an influx of patients needing to remove excess skin.

In procedures like bariatric surgery, the doctors are removing the fat and the skin. Something that is not possible with a weight loss drug.

Doctors said sometimes excess skin removal procedures are needed all over the body, not just near the midsection. Doctors want to make sure the patient is done losing weight before performing any skin removal surgery.

Humble also said adopting a healthy lifestyle, like exercising, can also help tighten skin.
