HARRISBURG, Pa. (NewsNation Now) — The pandemic has cancelled many things this year from events to fundraiser. But that didn’t stop one man from central Pennsylvania who turned his love of golf into $20,000 to support kids in his community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region board member Joe Holston raised funds through a unique 100-holes in one day golf challenge. The marathon golf challenge is to make up for all the fundraising events the local Big Brother Big Sisters lost because of the pandemic.

“The theme we came up with was 100 holes or the hospital,” Holston said. “I’m hoping for the 100 holes.”

Holston, 63, powered through his rounds one by one all in the name of charity.

Ultimately Holston raised $20,000 for Big Brother Big Sisters.

“I’m feeling sore and tired,” said Holston. “My back hurts, my ankle hurts and I think when I go home tonight my whole body is going to be sore.”
