BUFFALO GROVE, Ill (News Nation/WGN) — Schools across the country are gearing up for online learning; a style of education much different than in-person. Bob Pinta, a teacher from Buffalo Grove, Illinois noticed a challenge and created an instrument to make virtual learning easier for students and teachers.

It’s an adjustable wood stand that allows students to see their teacher’s face and what they’re writing at the same time.

The device allows more space for instruction and helps teachers better connect with their students.

“When we first started e-learning, myself like most teachers were cobbling together textbooks, a ruler, and maybe some tape so when you hold your phone to write on the table, the kids could see it,” Pinta said. “So then that weekend, I went out to the shop and designed this.”

Pinta’s invention was such a success in his area that his wife suggested he sell his wooden stands online. The instrument has gained attention from teachers across the country. In just two weeks, Pinta has sold over 200 wood stands, with orders coming in from Connecticut to Nevada.

The price for each stand is $30, which Pinta says makes it affordable to teachers.
