Woman becomes nurse practitioner at same Massachusetts hospital where she worked as a custodian
CHICOPEE, Mass. (NewsNation Now) — A Massachusetts woman is sharing her story after she landed a job at the same hospital where she worked as a custodian while completing her nursing degree.
Jaines Andrades, of Chicopee, has received a lot of attention after posting her old work badges on her Facebook page.
The 29-year-old worked as a custodian at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for nearly 10 years, NewsNation affiliate WWLP reported.
Andrades told WWLP that she wanted to pursue nursing to support others during difficult times and to become an advocate for the proper care of patients.
This year, she finally achieved her dreams and became a nurse practitioner in the center’s trauma surgery department.
“Just believe in yourself, trust yourself, build a good support system, take help, love yourself, you know? Value yourself. Those things were all things that were imperative for me to succeed,” Andrades said.
