Florida woman missing in Spain after divorce
- Ana Knezevich has been missing in Spain since Feb. 2: Family
- Brother: 'Building has cameras spray-painted'
- 'An American citizen is missing abroad. I just want my sister back'
(NewsNation) — Felipe Henao says his sister Ana Knezevich has been missing in Spain since Feb. 2.
The Florida woman went to Madrid on a trip while going through a divorce, her family told NewsNation. After they started receiving mysterious text messages from her phone, they sent someone to check on Knezevich.
According to the family, a man in a helmet can be seen on video blacking out security cameras where Knezevich was staying before she vanished.
“The fact that the building has the cameras spray-painted … It just makes us think it’s foul play. It’s not normal,” Henao said.
NewsNation’s Brian Entin reached out to David Knezevich, Ana’s husband, but he has not replied. Family members believe he is in Serbia.
The family is now working with European authorities, but they’re facing barriers.
“I know police in Spain are working really hard. I just don’t know if they have all the tools they need. They don’t have a detective that speaks English. I find that ridiculous. I wish there was more communication with U.S. law enforcement. An American citizen is missing abroad. I just want my sister back,” Henao said.
