CLEVELAND (NewsNation Now) — Race in America became a key topic of the 2020 campaign after the May death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump debated how to handle the growing divide and national unrest.

Since Floyd’s death, several other cases across the country and the Black Lives Matter movement, has set off protests and riots in cities across the country.

Floyd, a Black man who was handcuffed, died May 25 after Derek Chauvin, a white officer, pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck even as Floyd said he couldn’t breathe. Floyd’s death was captured in widely seen bystander video that set off that unrest.

The two candidates went head-to-head in Tuesday’s debate in Cleveland moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace.

The presidential election is a little more than a month away, but many states have already begun voting.

NewsNation provided unedited sections of the debate all night, so you can see what both sides said.
