WILMINGTON, Del. (NewsNation Now) — As the sun sets over Wilmington, the Chase Center parking lot is undergoing a transformation for what will be ground zero for Joe Biden’s campaign — the place where he hopes to declare victory Tuesday night.
“It’s been crowded, but it’s bringing a lot of good business to the area with the local businesses of course, during the pandemic, with the hotels and the restaurants; it’s definitely a good boost for the economy right now,” said Delaware resident Aaron Butler.
At Chelsea Tavern, getting to the polls Tuesday is all the talk this Election Day eve. While millions of votes have already been cast across the country — in Delaware, there is no early voting.
“A lot of people think their vote doesn’t count, I totally disagree. It always counts,” said Kim Dugger, a retired police officer. “I look at our ancestors and what they went through to have the right to vote. Absolutely. I don’t care if I was sick. I’m voting. It is my right, it’s what I have to do.”
At the train station where former Vice President Joe Biden commuted every day for 36 years back and forth from Washington, D.C election anxiety is on present-day commuters’ minds.
“We will be glued to the television tomorrow night, and hope we have an early answer instead of having to wait days or even months,” said Leslie Jones of New York.
