(NewsNation) — Former Minnesota Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty told NewsNation’s “Morning in America” that he’s not overly concerned about the legal cases against former President Donald Trump.

“Well, the legal cases seem like they’re sort of imploding,” he said. “And so I’m not overly worried in terms of whether he’s going to be indicted or convicted by the election.”

Pawlenty said it’s a foregone conclusion that Trump will be the GOP nominee for president unless something extraordinary happens. Barring that, he doesn’t believe former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has much of a shot at the White House.

“I think the question for her is going to be, ‘What’s the best exit for her future?’ Because I think she’s very capable and has a very bright future,” said Pawlenty. “I think a graceful exit after Super Tuesday would be her best strategy.”

Pawlenty, however, isn’t too excited about the prospect of rehashing 2020 in 2024.

“On the one hand, we have President Biden, who’s feeble — physically, mentally, and politically. On the other hand, we have a Republican nominee or putative nominee (Trump) who’s a little nutty. So, as a nation, these are the choices we have,” Pawlenty said.
