(NewsNation) — Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein joined “NewsNation Now” to discuss the current state of the 2024 presidential election and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress.
Stein called for Netanyahu to resign and condemned members of the U.S. Congress for clapping at an address that he gave on Wednesday. She said that the American people want an end to the conflict in Gaza.
“The American people do see this as a genocide and overwhelmingly want this to stop immediately, want an immediate ceasefire and a diplomatic solution,” Stein said.
Stein also told “NewsNation Now” that she did not reconsider ending her presidential campaign after seeing President Joe Biden step out of the race, because Vice President Kamala Harris is not that different.
“Working people are struggling,” Stein said. “They rightfully blame this on both parties, they need a true alternative.”
Former President Donald Trump has expressed that he likes Stein and People’s Party presidential candidate Cornell West because they take votes from those who would vote for the Democratic Party, which helps him.
Stein said she does not believe she takes votes from those who would vote for a Democrat.
“We draw from people who otherwise will not vote, no one owns your vote. Politicians have to earn your vote, we specifically draw from people who are fed up with both parties,” Stein said.
