MILWAUKEE (NewsNation) — Vice President Kamala Harris has shattered fundraising records, raising over $81 million in the first 24 hours after launching her presidential bid and raking in more than $100 million over the past two days.

“The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections,” campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz said in a statement. “Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election.”

The $81 million is the highest single-day fundraising total ever recorded by a candidate, and about $30 million more than former President Donald Trump raked in after his felony conviction earlier this year.

Nearly a million grassroots donors also made donations over the last 24 hours, with 60% of them being new contributors for the 2024 election cycle.

One of the biggest Democratic super political action committees, Future Forward, announced a staggering $150 million raised within 24 hours, coming from donors previously “hesitant” and “undecided.”

Hundreds of delegates have also pledged their support to Harris ahead of next month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Altogether, Harris’ total war chest is nearly a quarter of a billion dollars.

Harris has yet to pick her running mate, but whoever she picks could hold a lot of weight with voters. Harris will make her first presidential campaign stop in Milwaukee after President Joe Biden bowed out of the race over the weekend.
