(NewsNation) — As Vice President Kamala Harris gains momentum in key battleground states, pro-Palestinian protesters are making their voices heard during her campaign rallies, promising to have a significant presence at the Democratic National Convention.

Democratic strategist Aisha Mills joined “NewsNation Now” to discuss how the protests are expected to impact Harris’ support in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, saying while the Israel-Hamas war will be important in the election, her supporters aren’t single-issue voters.

“Kamala Harris voters are not single-issue people,” Mills explained. “There are many other things we care about as well, like affordable housing, like dealing with the homeless population, like securing the border is a conversation that’s always being had.”

In her Arizona rally last week, Harris called for a cease-fire after pro-Palestinian protesters interrupted her speech.

“These protests are a reflection of the fact that we live in a nation where people who care deeply about an issue have an opportunity to have their voices heard, and that’s something that Kamala Harris believes in,” Mills said.

The latest polling shows Harris leading former President Donald Trump in crucial states as she garners support from key voting groups.

“We’re going to win through the culture. If you just go on TikTok right now, you can see the momentum,” Mills said. “There are 20 million Gen Z voters at this point. We see the base of the Democratic Party, of all strides, really animated and excited. That is how we win.”
