WASHINGTON (NewsNation) — Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, will speak Thursday at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) as she seeks to establish herself as a potential leader within the Republican Party.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is anticipated to make significant changes in the coming week, and the former president has endorsed Lara Trump as a candidate for the next co-chair of the RNC.

As the election season intensifies, the former president aims to have the RNC back his campaign.

Lara Trump, who served as a top adviser in Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, notably focusing on gathering women voters, is expected to deliver a speech Thursday rallying support for her father-in-law, much like she did during a stop in South Carolina on Wednesday. She’s expected to address CPAC around 1 p.m. ET.

“I will ensure that every penny of every dollar goes to the causes that we the people care about. Donald Trump (as) the 47th president goes to expanding our lead in the House with patriots with ‘America First’ candidates, goes to taking back the Senate, ladies and gentlemen,” Lara Trump said.

Ronna McDaniel, who assumed the role of RNC chair in 2017, has faced criticism from fellow Republicans, with some attributing disappointing election results in recent years to her.

Analysts suggest McDaniel may step down after the South Carolina primary this weekend.

Former President Trump has also pushed for another supporter to be chair of the RNC and a senior campaign manager to be chief operating officer.

Meanwhile, the former president’s anticipated appearance at CPAC on Saturday will be closely watched, as well as the vice presidential candidate straw poll.
