(NewsNation) — Michigan voters are anticipating a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in the 2024 elections with Trump expected to have a commanding victory in the state’s GOP primary, according to polls.

Despite Trump’s seemingly inevitable win, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is determined to stay in the race. She says she was able to raise $1 million in fundraising even after losing the Republican primary in her home state.

The fundraising announcement came shortly after the influential Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action), led by billionaire Charles Koch, pulled its funding of Haley’s campaign.

AFP Action CEO Emily Seidel said the group stands by its endorsement of Haley but will focus its resources where they will make a difference — the U.S. Senate and House.

In a last-minute campaign effort, Haley will host an event in Grand Rapids Monday, ahead of the Michigan primaries.

Still, Michigan voters are gearing up for a Trump-Biden rematch in November. Biden won the Wolverine state in 2020 by 150,000 votes but Trump claimed the victor in 2016, making it a battleground state for both candidates.

The Trump campaign has been focused on white, working-class voters in recent years as they lean more toward the Republican side. In Michigan, both Trump and Biden prioritized the auto workers’ strike last year to ensure support from the critical voting bloc, but Biden received the endorsement from UAW president Shawn Fain.

Going into the swing state primary, Trump will have to work hard to win over Michigan’s more moderate voters while Biden will have to appeal to the Arab American voters, some of whom are vowing to vote “uncommitted” in protest of Biden’s stance on the Israel-Hamas war.
