(NewsNation) — A Pennsylvania bakery is dipping into politics, and voters are eating it up.

Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, is running a tongue-in-cheek “cookie poll,” which has correctly called the next president in three elections since 2008. The bakery sells candidate-themed cookies with “Harris 2024” and “Trump 2024” decorated in blue and red, respectively. The owners keep a tally of the cookie sales, which factors into their informal poll.

Currently, Trump is in the lead, owner Kathleen Lochel said. Their sales correctly predicted the 2008, 2012 and 2016 elections, but their 2020 cookie poll was off when Trump lost to President Joe Biden.

“I just think that it brought people together in 2020. We always had a line. They wanted to support a small business,” Lochel said. “It’s not scientific. It’s for fun … Whatever color cookie they’re coming in for, we’re happy to give them.”

Lines have been out the door of the third-generation small business, and social media is buzzing after Trump posted his support of the cookies on his social media platform Truth Social. People are driving hours to buy the cookies in person, and they’ve shipped orders to Alaska and Hawaii.

“We had people from Rhode Island here yesterday and Connecticut because they can get it faster than I can ship it,” Lochel said. “It’s amazing to see the support that we had for our small business.”

So far, they’ve noticed more red cookie customers than blue. Lochel’s Bakery will release an updated tally on Tuesday, which happens to be the first vice presidential debate between Democrat Gov. Tim Walz and Republican Sen. JD Vance.

Lochel’s Bakery in Pennsylvania has correctly called the presidential election three out of four times with its “cookie poll” in which they tally up the sales of their Trump and Harris election-themed cookies.
