(NewsNation) — The Secret Service will provide bulletproof glass to surround former President Donald Trump at campaign events in the aftermath of the attempted assassination against him in Butler, Pennsylvania, last month.
The microscope has been firmly on the Secret Service after major security lapses led to Thomas Crooks firing several shots at the former president, one of which hit Trump in the ear.
Since the attempted assassination July 13, Trump has held seven campaign rallies, none of which were outside.
With the Trump campaign set to resume outdoor events in the near future, the Secret Service is providing extra measures for the 45th president.
In addition to the glass, some of President Joe Biden’s detail will be sent over to former President Trump in order to bolster his security.
While it has always been a very thorough process to go through the Secret Service; every bag is checked. There are no exceptions for any individual, but security has tightened.
There is a greater strictness in order to get into some of these events as well. It has looked like a completely different ball game ever since last month’s tragedy, which resulted in the death of volunteer firefighter Corey Comperatore.
