(NewsNation) — The U.S. Secret Service uses its Democratic National Convention communications center to monitor all activity outside the United Center where the convention is taking place.

Investigative reporter Ben Bradley from NewsNation Chicago affiliate WGN joined “NewsNation Now” to show an inside look into the Secret Service’s DNC operation room. Bradley spoke to U.S. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi about some of the security in place.

“This room is kind of dialed into all of the operation flows for the Secret Service, state police, even the FBI is represented to monitor that threat stream,” Guglielmi said. “Our goal here is to take this information, ensure there’s no compromised information for sensitivity reasons and broadcast that out to the city.”

Bradley also joined “NewsNation Now” to discuss the breach of security that occurred and the unauthorized protest outside the DNC Tuesday night.

“The protest that we should say turned into a confrontation and ended with some violence directed at police officers, that was not an authorized protest. They did not have a permit to protest,” Bradley said. “Nonetheless, Chicago police allowed them to block the street for a period of time. You saw the flag burning there. Chicago police gave several warnings before they moved in to disperse the crowd.”
