(NewsNation Now) — Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden addressed America’s mayors during the United States Conference of Mayors’ 2020 Fall Leadership Meeting Saturday.

Biden promised to support the needs of the country’s mayors.

“If I have the honor of becoming your president, I’ll make this commitment to you: you’re going to have access directly to the White House,” said Biden. “I’m going to be right there with you, helping you and your communities based on what you think you need and the challenges you’re facing.”

The virtual conference took place Sept. 24-26. It brought many city leaders together to discuss the state of America’s cities and their national priorities.

Biden and mayors from cities rural, urban and suburban addressed COVID-19 response, police reform, economic mobility, infrastructure, and poverty.

“We’re dealing with four historic crises all at once,” said Biden. “A once-in-a-century pandemic that has claimed over 200,000 American lives, a devastating economic recession, a long-overdue reckoning on racial injustice, a changing climate that is ravaging communities all across the country…not one of the crises should have a partisan dimension.”

President Donald Trump will campaign in Pennsylvania Saturday after he announces his pick for the Supreme Court.
