WASHINGTON (NewsNation Now) — President Trump addressed complaints from his supporters on the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution Thursday at the National Archives Museum with a soft tone but gut-level message as former VP Joe Biden spoke at a virtual event on Rosh Hashanah.

In a subdued speech, the president aired a list of complaints often voiced by his most fervent base of supporters: that the country is being hijacked by left-wingers determined to erase its greatness.

“These radicals have been aided and abetted by liberal politicians, establishment media and even large corporations,” Trump said.

He suggested attempts to re-write the nation’s history are plain to see in the demolition of monuments to its founding fathers, and the at times violent street protests against police behavior this summer. He said they teach young Americans the wrong lesson.

“American parents are not going to accept indoctrination in our schools, cancel culture at our work, or the repression of traditional faith, culture and values in the public square. Not anymore,” Trump said. “We want our sons and daughters to know that they are the citizens of the most exceptional nation in the history of the world.”

Trump also expressed scorn for the removal of a statue in Wilmington, Delaware of Cesar Rodney, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, but also a slave owner. Trump didn’t mention that fact.

“Joe Biden said nothing as to his home state’s history and the fact that it was dismantled and dismembered,” Trump noted.

Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to an online audience gathered for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah.

“Both of our faiths – yours and mine – instruct us that we can’t ignore what’s happening around us,” said Biden. “A deadly pandemic, a devastating economic crisis, a moral reckoning on racial justice, declining faith in a bright American future. And a common thread there is a president who makes them worse.”

He also spoke to Senate Democrats Thursday assuring them he intends to solidify a vigorous campaign over the next month and a half.

Biden spoke at Pennsylvania town hall moderated by CNN’s Anderson Cooper Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.

Trump held a rally at Central Wisconsin Airport Thursday night. The rallies are billed as “The Great American Comeback Event.”
