(NewsNation) —A book written by the head of the conservative group behind the controversial Project 2025 which contains a foreword written by vice presidential nominee JD Vance will not be released until after the election.

Kevin Roberts, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, said he is pushing back the publication date of his forthcoming book so it doesn’t distract from the election, reported Real Clear Politics.

“There’s a time for writing, reading, and book tours — and a time to put down the books and go fight like hell to take back our country,” Roberts told the outlet. “That’s why I’ve chosen to move my book’s publication and promotion to after the election.”

His book, “Dawn’s Early Light: Taking Back Washington to Save America,” was due to be published in September but will now be released in November.

The Heritage Foundation has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks due to what many are calling an “extremist” agenda under Project 2025.

So-called reforms under the 1,000-page conservative playbook include nearly eliminating reproductive rights, cutting labor protections, and the firing of as many as 50,000 federal workers who conservative groups say will impede the president’s agenda.

Members of the the Heritage Foundation have garnered significant criticism including from former President Donald Trump who lashed out at the group over the plan.

Trump had disavowed Project 2025, but many top officials and political advisers who worked under his administration, and some currently involved in his campaign, have contributed to the plan.

Vance has also been steeped in controversy after calling leading Democrats “childless cat ladies.”

In his introduction for the book, he says Roberts provided a “fundamentally Christian view of culture and economics,” and that the book is “an essential weapon” for “the fights that lay (sic) ahead,” reported The Guardian.

“We are now all realizing that it’s time to circle the wagons and load the muskets,” he wrote.

The book announcement comes one week after Paul Dans, the director of Project 2025, said he would be stepping down from his position at The Heritage Foundation.

In a statement announcing his resignation, Dans also said his decision was in order to put  “direct efforts” towards the presidential election.
