- She will be buried by a willow tree at the house they've had since 1960
- Former President Jimmy Carter, now in hospice, will be at the memorial
(NewsNation) — Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to attend the memorial services for his wife, Rosalynn Carter, though he is currently under home hospice care himself.
The couple was the longest-married presidential couple, together for 77 years. Rosalynn Carter is also credited with changing the role of first lady to be more involved with policy and helping shape the way presidential families live after they leave the White House.
There will be three days of memorial events in honor of the former first lady, beginning with a motorcade to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum, where she will lie in repose before private memorials Tuesday and Wednesday.
An invitation-only tribute service for Rosalynn Carter will be held at the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church at Emory University on Tuesday. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will attend along with former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are also on the guest list, along with former first ladies Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump.

The service will include musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra along with Carter family friends Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. The family’s personal pastor will be giving remarks along with members of the Carter family.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and his wife, along with several members of Congress and elected officials from Georgia, are also expected to be at the Tuesday service in Atlanta.
A motorcade will travel from the Carter Presidential Center to Emory University and after the service will depart from the university and pass by the Carter Center before returning to the Carters’ hometown of Plains, Georgia. The public is welcome to gather along the motorcade routes to pay their respects.
A third, smaller private service will be held at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains followed by burial at the Carter family home, where Rosalynn Carter will be laid to rest next to a willow tree at the home she and her husband have shared since 1960.
