WILMINGTON, Del. (NewsNaton Now) — President-elect Joe Biden says President Donald Trump’s failure to recognize his victory is an “embarrassment.”
The Associated Press called the race for Biden on Saturday. President Trump’s team has refused to formally begin preparations for the transition.
Taking questions from reporters Tuesday for the first time since his victory, Biden predicted that refusing to concede “will not help the president’s legacy.”
Biden says regardless of the Trump administration’s actions, his planning to assume power on Jan. 20 is continuing as scheduled.
President Trump has not conceded and instead vows to keep fighting the ballot count. On Tuesday morning, he tweeted “WE WILL WIN!”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell supported President Trump’s right to contest the election results on Monday.
“President Trump is 100% within his right to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options,” he said.
McConnell also calling out what he called “wealthy media corporations.”
“The projections and commentary of the press do not get veto power over the legal rights of any citizens including the president of the United States,” he said.
Biden’s transition team named hundreds of members to agency review teams on Tuesday afternoon to prepare for the transition, including volunteers.
It is important to note that as of this writing, there has been no evidence presented of mass voter fraud in the election.
