(NewsNation) — As the South Carolina primary looms, former President Donald Trump maintains a commanding lead of 30 points, according to the latest polling averages.

While the primary remains a focal point, Trump is already setting his sights on the general election, with plans to headline the Black Conservative Federation’s dinner in Columbia, South Carolina.

Despite historically high levels of support for Democratic nominees in previous elections, recent years have shown a decline in voter turnout among Black Americans.

Bruce LeVell, a senior adviser for former President Donald Trump, joined “On Balance With Leland Vittert” to discuss the shifting political landscape.

“This will be a record game-changing turnout for Black Americans as going to support President Trump,” LeVell said. “It’d be above 25-plus percent. It’ll be one of the highest turnouts in the nation’s history the way the momentum is going.”

LeVell said a variety of factors are contributing to Black voter disenchantment with the Democratic Party, including economic concerns, social issues and unmet promises from Democratic leaders.

“People are tired,” LeVell said. “A lot of these cities are governed by Black leaders and have been controlled and encapsulated for decades in Black culture and that vote taken for granted.”
