WASHINGTON (NewsNation Now) — Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence tested negative for coronavirus following President Donald Trump’s positive COVID-19 diagnosis.

The vice president’s press secretary Devin O’Malley tweeted the following statement Friday:

“As has been routine for months, Vice President Pence is tested for COVID-19 every day. This morning, Vice President Pence and the Second Lady tested negative for COVID-19. Vice President Pence remains in good health and wishes the Trumps well in their recovery.”

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin also tested negative for the virus, his spokesman confirmed Friday morning.

Trump tweeted late Thursday that he and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Both the president and the first lady began self-quarantining Thursday night after receiving word that Hope Hicks, one of the president’s closest aids, tested positive.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he and his wife both tested negative for the virus, but he said Friday he was reconsidering his upcoming trip to Asia as a precaution.

No decision has been taken yet, Pompeo told journalists on a flight from Rome to Dubrovnik in Croatia.

“I spoke with the Vice President’s office this morning as well,” Pompeo said. “We’re taking this obviously very seriously.”

“We are praying for the President and First Lady that they’ll have a speedy recovery,” he said.
