The German government said Saturday that it will send weapons and other supplies directly to Ukraine, which is fighting to keep Russia from invading its capital city.
“This is a huge invasion, the first land war that we have seen in Europe outside the Balkans, since the end of World War 2,” said Robert W. Orttung, research professor of international affairs at George Washington University. “The big change, of course, is Germany providing weapons.”
