(NewsNation) — Lawmakers on Capitol Hill received a classified briefing from the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office which is tasked with investigating reports of unidentified aerial phenomena, better known as UFOs. But members of the House UAP Caucus weren’t necessarily happy with what they heard.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., is one of the bipartisan group of lawmakers pushing for more transparency on the subject. As with previous briefings, he told NewsNation he still has questions and believes the Pentagon is deliberately sending people who can’t give lawmakers the answers they seek.

“It’s always compartmentalized,” Burchett said. “I don’t really think these people are lying, I think there’s a lot of arrogance around this so-called intelligence community, what they do is they’ve compartmentalized it so that each department can only answer your question up to a certain point.”

Burchett said he was almost falling asleep during the briefing, which he described as “mundane and boring.”

He also questioned why the meeting had to be held in a SCIF, a secure chamber used to discuss classified information if things were so straightforward.

“Why can’t you tell the American public that?” Burchett questioned.

Burchett called the Pentagon’s recent report, which denied the agency has ever encountered alien technology or evidence of extraterrestrial life, a coverup.

“There’s tens of millions of dollars that we spent investigating, we’ve had departments tell us they have recovery units, but yet they won’t release full reports,” he told NewsNation. “Your reports look like somebody shot it with a 12-gauge shotgun.”

Burchett, along with others, are calling for more hearings on the issue as they try to find out the truth.

Even if the answer isn’t aliens, Burchett said there needs to be more transparency.

“I’ve said many times, it’s not about the little green men or the flying saucers, it’s about what the heck are they spending all this dadgum money on?” Burchett said

As for why the reasons the military would cover up something so huge, Burchett said it comes down to arrogance.

“I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve had with high-ranking officials that have told me that America really can’t handle this stuff,” he said. “It’s not their position to tell me who or what I can handle. We’re Americans, we have to be able to take it.”
