LAS VEGAS - This Super Bowl is a so-far low-scoring affair, with the San Francisco 49ers clinging to a 10-3 halftime lead on the strength of a bit of imaginative trickery from Niners coach Kyle Shanahan.
The Niners, maybe smartly, pulled a rabbit out of their hats for the only TD scored in Super Bowl LVIII.
With his team leading 3-0 in the second quarter, the 49ers boss coach called a successful gimmick play that saw Jauan Jennings hit Christian McCaffrey for a 21-yard touchdown.
Quarterback Brock Purdy first lateraled to Jennings on the left side of the field. Jennings then threw a forward pass back and cross-field to McCaffrey, who ran in for the score.
The TD gave the 49ers a 10-3 lead, which is where we are at halftime.

Jennings becomes the first wideout to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl since Antwaan Randle El hit Hines Ward for a score in Super Bowl XL.

Jennings, as it happens, was a highly-rated high school QB.
McCaffrey’s score might make up for his early fumble as he may be the early MVP leader here.
