All-Pro Defensive Star Now on Trade Block, Should the Chargers Make a Play for Him?

This would be a massive get for the Bolts.

The Los Angeles Chargers will be entering the 2024 season with a ton of hype around them after their signing of new head coach Jim Harbaugh. He brings over a new buzz for this franchise, and it's a breath of fresh air compared to how things were previously.

Harbaugh is an aggressive coach but also understands when to scale things back. He wants to dominate throughout games, and the Chargers should be better on both sides for it.

After going 5-12 this past season, Los Angeles has some work to do. Their defense was up and down this season, so they are expected to look into different ways to upgrade the edges.

One area the Bolts could improve upon is getting another pass rusher. Stars Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack are good, but Bosa is consistently hurt. And Mack is getting up there in age despite his productive 2023 season.

The Chargers could look to add via free agency or through a trade, and one All-Pro defender just became available. Haason Reddick has received permission to seek a trade away from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, and the Bolts should 100% go after him to beef up their defense.

In 17 games for the Eagles last season, Reddick put together another solid season. He posted 38 tackles and 11 sacks. It was his fourth consecutive season putting up double-digit sacks on the year.

He would be a strong candidate to lead the Chargers' defense alongside Mack next season. It would create a lethal duo along the defensive line, and opposing offenses would need to likely double-team one of them.

Reddick has played in the majority of games since he entered the league, showing his durability. The Bolts need someone like him to anchor their defense and, if anything, be available when the games are played.

This would be an aggressive move for the Bolts, but with Harbaugh in town now, it may be worth it. Getting the defense up to speed is key for the Chargers this offseason, and Reddick is someone many never thought would be available.
