Super Bowl LVIII Point Spread: How Chiefs, 49ers Have Fared vs. The Number This Season

We've got a great matchup for Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas on Sunday, with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the San Francisco 49ers. Here's the latest on the point spread, plus a great history of both teams vs. the number this season. There are some obvious trends that are jumping out on game day.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Super Bowl LVIII has finally arrived, and it should be a good one when Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs take on Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers here at Allegient Stadium in the first-ever Las Vegas Super Bowl.

It's been a party all week, as you'd expect in Sin City, and now it's time — finally — to play the game. Millions of dollars have been wagered on the game, with many more millions coming on Sunday. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. ET, with the game televised on CBS

We're here to help you out with all of that.

As of 8 a.m. ET on Sunday morning, it's the NFC champion 49ers who remain the slight favorite. The line is minus-1.5, according the SISportsbook gambling website. The over/under is 47.5, and both of those numbers have remained relatively steady for the past two weeks.

It's a game with a ton of star power, starting with the quarterbacks. Both teams were favored in every game they played this season, outside of the Chiefs' final outing where they rested several starters in a meaningless game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

They've had similar seasons, winning a bunch of games but suffering through modest mid-season struggled. The 49ers lost three straight games from Oct. 15 through Oct. 29, but they had a five-game winning streak before the swoon and a six-game winning streak afterward.'

The Chiefs went 3-5 in the middle of the season, but righted the ship and then hit their stride in the playoffs. If recency bias is a thing for you — and it absolutely is for me — it's Kansas City that's been more impressive in the playoffs.

As underdogs for the first time all year, they went into Buffalo and Baltimore and came out with victories anyway. In reverse, the 49ers have won twice at home, but failed to cover in both games over the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.

The Bills and Ravens would both have been favored over the Packers and Lions, so what the Chiefs have done in the postseason — including a divisional round win over the Miami Dolphins — has been much more impressive.

So let's take a deep dive into what they've done all season versus the numbers. There are a lot of interesting trends here.,

Here's what the Chiefs have done against the spread so far this season:
