(NewsNation) — An exclusive app connects users to travel the world, with special access to “luxury” accommodations and brand deals, is raising eyebrows despite saying it’s not a dating service.
FlyMeOut is an invite-only “social travel platform that connects like-minded travelers” and “offers access to “luxury accommodations and private events around the world,” according to the platform’s website.
The service’s website says it’s not a dating app. Instead, its focus is to “create a community of elite travelers who value luxury, exclusivity and networking.” Only group trips are allowed through FlyMeOut, and its guidelines bar nudity, explicit sexual content, “overt sexual solicitation” and seeking sexual encounters.
Still, some have voiced suspicion about how members might use the app.
“This sounds like the plot of an early 2000s slasher film,” one person commented on a TikTok about the app.
“That’s escorting with extra steps,” another wrote.
The app’s creators say they review and verify members for safety.
People can become members by filling out an application or receiving an invitation to join. Each applicant undergoes a review process “to ensure they align with our community values and standards,” according to the company’s website.
Members have access to trip and brand trip applications, hosting opportunities and discounts on “luxury rentals and accommodations.”
