(NewsNation) — Initially, Joe and Audrey Martucci were just two regular passengers on Royal Caribbean’s nine-month world cruise.
Then, the retirees found TikTok. What began as videos for their children and friends quickly became routine viewing for tens of thousands.
The Marcutuccis username on the social media app is “@spendingourkids money” and videos offered a window into exactly how they did it.
Joe and Audrey joined NewsNation’s “Morning in America” to discuss their world cruise and the unexpected social presence they now have.
“It was completely surreal because we didn’t actually know what Tiktok was originally, and all credit to Joe, he’s taught himself how to set up everything to do with it,” Audrey told NewsNation.
“My children would sit there and go, Dad, you’re going viral. And I go, what does that mean? And what does that mean, and why are these people watching these tiktoks? Because they’re not supposed to,” Joe added.
The cruise lasted 274 days, traveling to over 60 countries on seven different continents. While Joe and Audrey enjoyed their adventure, they were happy to arrive home to family.
For their next adventure, the Martuccis are headed to Scotland to visit family in May.
