Donald Trump Jr: Hush money trial against father is ‘insane’
- Former president being tried on charges of falsifying business records
- Witness Michael Cohen admitted to stealing from Trump's company
- Trump's son says this shows the trial against his father is 'nonsense'
(NewsNation) — The eldest son of former President Donald Trump said Tuesday in front of a New York courthouse that the trial against his father is “insane” and “nonsense.”
Donald Trump Jr. said the prosecution’s star witness and Trump’s ex-lawyer, Michael Cohen, admitted to a crime that’s “far worse” than what the former president is charged with.
Cohen, who testified Monday, said on the stand that he stole money from Trump’s company.
“Can you believe it? Like no one believes that this is real,” Trump Jr. said. “It’s insane, and it has to stop.”
Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records, centered around a $130,000 payment allegedly made through Cohen to adult film star Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election. These payments were made to cover up an alleged sexual encounter Trump had with Daniels.
