NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City has launched a new tool to protect students on their commute to and from schools.
The new app provides real-time tracking of yellow school buses, according to the Department of Education. Parents and guardians can see the exact location of the bus their children are taking as it moves along its route.
Parents and guardians can log into the app using their New York City Public Schools account and the student’s ID number. More than 75% of buses in the public school system have joined the app.
Parents can also request their school to be added to the app if their child’s route is not available for tracking.
Around 150,000 students take a school bus daily in New York City, according to officials.
