Shortly after BSO terminated the pursuit, state police observed the vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Genesis, on Route 58 speeding recklessly at 100 mph in a 45mph zone. As state police initiated a traffic pursuit, the driver, later identified as 34-year-old Delmar Curtis Staton-Davies proceeded onto Interstate 95 northbound and exited at Route 301 in Emporia.

Once on Route 301, Staton-Davies ran off the roadway, struck the curb and a road sign. He then got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

Staton-Davies was quickly apprehended with the help of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and Emporia Police Department.

Search warrants were executed after Staton-Davies’ arrest, which uncovered multiple credit cards, driver’s licenses and passports not belonging to him. Additionally, four firearms were recovered, including one that had been reported stolen out of North Carolina.

Staton-Davies was taken to Southside Regional Jail and charged with 30 felonies, 7 misdemeanors and 4 traffic infractions. His felony charges include 15 counts of possession of stolen credit cards, nine counts of possession of stolen goods valued over $1,500, and one count each of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a convicted felon, destruction of property, unauthorized use of a vehicle and eluding law enforcement.

His misdemeanor charges include four counts of identity theft and one count each of reckless driving, obstruction of justice and drive after revocation.

He is also charged with failure to stop at a red light, improper passing and two counts of failing to obey a stop sign.
