(WHTM) — Rita’s Italian Ice recently announced that they will be giving away free ice treats to celebrate the first day of spring.
According to Rita’s, the free Italian ice giveaway will be held on Tuesday, March 19 across all of their locations nationwide.
Guests who visit Rita’s location on the first day of spring will receive a free 6-ounce Italian Ice in an available flavor of their choice. Visitors will be able to choose from Rita’s classic flavors or their brand new Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Ice.
Rita’s says they are expecting to give away approximately 1 million cups of ice across their 550+ locations.
“Our first day of spring giveaway has become a cherished tradition with our guests, and this year, we’re elevating the celebration with the exclusive launch of SOUR PATCH KIDS Watermelon Ice,” said Linda Chadwick, President & CEO of Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard. “At Rita’s, our guests inspire us to push our flavor innovation further each year and we are thrilled to partner with the SOUR PATCH KIDS brand to deliver this unique take on a sour-then-sweet favorite in only a way Rita’s can. We hope to see everyone at Rita’s on March 19 to enjoy a free cup of Ice on us.”
Rita’s Italian Ice was founded back in May 1984 by a Philadelphia firefighter named Bob Tumolo, who named the beloved franchise after his wife Rita.
