(NewsNation) — During a congressional hearing on the border, Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., referenced reporting from NewsNation’s border correspondent Ali Bradley on the House floor.
The chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Green, referenced exclusive reporting from Bradley, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement figures indicating that around 23% of inadmissible immigrants have been removed since the end of Title 42 in May of 2023.
Title 42 was a pandemic-era immigration restriction that allowed border officials to turn away migrants at the border for public health reasons. It ended in May of 2023.
Wednesday’s hearing is the latest as lawmakers continue to discuss what many have referred to as a border crisis, with Republicans accusing the Biden administration of failing to do enough to secure the southern border. President Joe Biden has pointed the finger back at Congress for failing to pass immigration bills.
The border has also continued to be a key issue in the 2024 election, particularly among voters in states that are closest to Mexico.
Bradley leads NewsNation’s daily border coverage, reporting from the southern border and delivering exclusive reporting on migrant crossings, cartel smuggling operations and major law enforcement busts.
