EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A confirmed member of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua was arrested last week in El Paso, U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) Chief Jason Owens announced on his X social media account.
Owens says USBP agents in El Paso arrested a confirmed member of the Venezuelan gang last Wednesday, Sept. 18. No details were offered about the arrest.
USBP agents have apprehended a total of 70 members of this gang nationwide, Owens said in his Tweet.
No time frame was given on those arrests.
“Tren de Aragua is known for murder, drug trafficking, sex crimes, extortion, and other violent acts,” Owens said.
