(NewsNation) — More than two dozen Republican governors, including Gov. Doug Burgum, R-N.D., have signed a letter saying they support Texas’ right to take measures to stop illegal immigration at its southern border.
Burgum says Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wouldn’t have to take certain measures if President Joe Biden left in place policies Donald Trump had when he was in office.
“This seems like a problem that all Americans could agree on, but we’re not seeing the leadership from the White House to get it done,” Burgum said during a Friday appearance on “Elizabeth Vargas Reports.“
Despite the SCOTUS ruling, Texas has vowed to “hold the line” and add more wire “to deter and prevent unlawful entry” into the state.
The 25 GOP governors have united and released a statement of solidarity with Abbott for “stepping up to protect American citizens from history levels of illegal immigration, deadly drugs like fentanyl and terrorists entering our country.”
