CHICAGO (NewsNation Now) — It seems all of us are making more online purchases than ever before.

U.S. Census Bureau research found that e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2020, grew to more than $210 billion, a 32% increase over the first quarter. That’s 45% more than the same period in 2019.

Sometimes these online purchases aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.
There is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection crackdown on international packages that are breaking the law.

It’s called “Operation Mega Flex.”

The ongoing collaboration led by the CBP — with assistance from other federal agencies — to inspect packages arriving from overseas to root out fake merchandise, drugs, and even weapons.

NewsNation got a look inside the process, watch in the player above.
