NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Nashville Zoo wants your opinion on what to name its newest clouded leopard cub.
The baby girl, born to mated clouded leopard pair Niran and Ron on Feb. 25, has yet to be named. However, zoo staff have some contenders for what to call the little cub and the contest will also serve as a fundraiser for the zoo.
Fans of the conservation work can choose between three names:
- Lara – in honor of the TV personality who announced the cub’s birth nationwide
- Mi – Vietnamese name meaning noodles
- Tashi – Tibetan name meaning good fortune
In order to vote in the contest, you can donate $1 per vote for any of the names online.
The name with the most money raised will be chosen for the cub. Voting closes at 10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, and the winning name will be announced on Sunday, April 13, according to the zoo.
All the donations raised from the naming contest will support Save Vietnam’s Wildlife, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and protecting endangered wildlife, the Zoo said. The organization also works with local communities and government officials to advocate for Vietnam’s wild places.
The Nashville Zoo will further the donation by matching all donations dollar-for-dollar.
