HATTIESBURG, Miss. (NewsNation Now) — Four people were killed when a small plane crashed into a home in a southern Mississippi city Tuesday night, police said.
The Hattiesburg Police Department responded to the crash on Annie Christie Drive around 11:20 p.m.
Police initially said two people died; later Wednesday morning, they raised the death toll to four. Authorities did not immediately identify the victims or say whether they were on the plane or in the home.
Police are asking anyone who lives in the area to contact them if any debris or wreckage has landed on their property. People should not touch or remove the items.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
Hattiesburg is about 90 miles southeast of Jackson.
