Murder suspect arrested after falling through ceiling
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man accused in a deadly North Memphis shooting was taken into custody after he fell through the ceiling of a house while hiding from U.S. Marshals.
Deario Wilkerson, 20, was arrested on Monday by the U.S. Marshals Service.
According to reports, on April 2, Troy Cunningham was found shot to death at a home on North Merton Street. On May 9, an arrest warrant for first-degree murder and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon was issued for Wilkerson’s arrest.
On Monday, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force tracked Wilkerson to a home on the same street where the shooting took place months prior.
Deputy marshals, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and the Memphis Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Teams surrounded the home.
Reports say Wilkerson tried to hide in the attic of the home, but he fell through the ceiling as the USMS was searching the residence.
He was taken into custody without injuries from the fall.
