NEW ORLEANS (NewsNation Now) — Local storm chasers and weather reporters, watch out! Lennox Sandifer, age 5, is coming for your jobs.

As Hurricane Zeta sped through New Orleans East, Lennox put on his rain gear and grabbed a microphone to give residents a live update from what appears to be just outside his home.

“You look over my shoulder,” he said. “You can see wind…the trash cans…we have one on the road right here, and one down there.”

He was also quick to offer some advice.

“This is really crazy, so stay inside!” he said. “Stay safe…stay anywhere…lights are blinking all over the place as the wind blows harder and harder. See you later guys.”

Scot Pilie’, a meteorologist with NewsNation affiliate WGNO-TV in New Orleans shared the video on his Facebook page saying, “Oh. My. Goodness. I’m about to lose my job.”

Lennox’s video is a bright spot in what has been another devastating weather system for storm-weary Louisiana. Zeta came ashore Wednesday afternoon as a Category 2 hurricane in Cocodrie, Louisiana, and then moved swiftly across the New Orleans area and into neighboring Mississippi, bringing with it both fierce winds and storm surge.

The storm continues to batter the Southeast, leaving a trail of damaged homes and flooding in its wake. Power outages were reported across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, according to the website PowerOutage.us. Georgia had the most outages before dawn with more than 1 million customers in the dark.

NewsNation affiliate WGNO-TV and the Associated press contributed to this report.
