IDABEL, Okla. (NewsNation Now) — A woman suspected of removing a baby from a pregnant woman’s womb, resulting in the death of both the mother and child, appeared in an Oklahoma courtroom Tuesday and waived extradition to Texas.

Taylor Parker, 27, of Simms, Texas, appeared in McCurtain County District Court and agreed to be sent to Bowie County, Texas, said Brooke Arbeitman, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

Parker is wanted in Texas for the death of 21-year-old Reagan Simmons-Hancock, who was found dead Friday at a home in East Texas with her baby removed from her body. Officials say Simmons-Hancock died as a result of injuries she sustained.

A Texas state trooper stopped Parker in DeKalb, Texas, on Friday. She told the trooper she had given birth on the side of the road and that the baby was not breathing, Arbeitman said.

An ambulance was called to take Parker and the baby to McCurtain Memorial Hospital, where a doctor determined Parker had not given birth. The baby was pronounced dead after attempts were made to resuscitate the child.

Parker was discharged from the hospital and booked into jail in Idabel, Oklahoma about 190 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Arbeitman said she did not know if Parker had an attorney who could speak on her behalf. Parker is facing two counts of murder and one count of kidnapping.
