KENT, Ohio (NewsNation Now) — Fire officials honored two boys who helped save their family after their apartment caught on fire last month in northeast Ohio.

The Kent Fire Department honored cousins Chance Kyllo and Zach Brown at a ceremony Wednesday.

The two were able to wake up others in the seventh-floor unit, including two other kids and their grandmother, after Kyllo first saw smoke in the kitchen, NewsNation affiliate WJW reported.

The two managed to get everyone downstairs and no one was hurt.
